Don't think for a second that just because Mike mentioned in an earlier interview done by our good friends from DeaconSports.Com that Wake Forest is the leader and it's a done deal. It's not. Wake is out in front but not a done deal by a long shot. Wake Forest has been after this five-star recruit for sometime now, but others have slipped in and Illinois is one of those schools.
Illini fans, mark your calendars. October 30th seems to be a big date in Illini sports. The Iowa Hawkeyes come to town for a football game and Conley is doing everything he can to get to Champaign that weekend. Actually, Conley knew what team Illinois was playing that weekend.
"I get mail from Illinois everyday - sometimes two to three at a time a day. I love Illinois; their style of play is great. I see them play all the time being from the Midwest," said Conley.
"Illinois definitely has a shot at me. They are close to home, and that could play a big part for me," said Conley.
Head coach Bruce Weber is in perfect position this season. Everyone in the country knows how good the Illini will be this year, including Conley, so recruits will take notice. "Boy, Illinois will be good this year. They are one of the elite teams in the country this year. They will be fun to watch play," stated Conley.
Right now Conley knows that Illinois really likes his game. "All the coaches are recruiting me from Illinois and they are doing a good job at it," added Conley.
According to the school yesterday, Conley is getting looks from other major programs. UNC is one of those schools trying to get involved with his recruitment. The best thing about this kid may be his studies. "School is very important to me," stated Conley, who currently is carrying a 3.3 GPA.
