Illinois Hosting Chester Frazier

Chester Frazier admits he was considered a "low or mid-major guy" not too long ago, but that appears to have changed judging by his visit this weekend.

Chester Frazier made the decision to go to Notre Dame Prep (Mass.) because he was looking for bigger looks than the ones he received coming out of Lake Clifton (Md.). He has no regrets.

The 6-1, 180-pound point guard will visit Illinois this weekend and may take an official trip to LaSalle the following weekend. He also said that Charleston and Fordham are in the mix.

Frazier, who has shown the ability to knock down the outside shot, run a team and also play hard on every possession, is starting to prove skeptics wrong.

``In the past with Cecil Kirk, you might see me shoot the ball three times all game," Frazier said. "I didn't get a lot of attempts, so people just didn't think I could shoot it."

``Playing with guys like Sam Young and (Jerome) Stretch (Johnson), my chances to shoot were so limited," he added. "But I always knew I could shoot." Now that Frazier's perimeter game has come along, he can score in a variety of ways – and he's also a quality defender.

``Before I was considered more of a low or mid-major guy," Frazier said. "Now I'm getting bigger looks. I'm going to go out to Illinois and see how it is and play with their guys, but it'd be tough to turn them down if they offer."
