Mike Dell, a 6-foot-2, 225-pound inside linebacker from Hummelstown (Pa.) Lower Dauphin has the size and speed to play D-1 football but he doesn't have any offers yet. We asked Lower Dauphin head coach Robert Klock what Dell brings to the table and why he doesn't have any suitors as of yet.
"I can't tell you why Mike (Dell) doesn't have an offer," Coach Klock said.
"Mike was named all-state as a junior and he's our best football player. Mike is a great leader and he's a smart kid.
"I haven't had a linebacker here who scrapes as well as Mike and his shoulders are always square. You'll hardly ever find Mike Dell out of position on the football field.
"Mike's the quarterback of the defense. He gets everyone in position and he gets everyone in the proper coverage. I can't tell you how fortunate we are to have him (Dell) on our team."
Having seen Dell on film myself this year, I have to agree with Coach Klock. In addition to being all over the field making tackles, Dell is also a very good in his drops and pass coverage.
If Mike Dell doesn't end up at the Big Ten level next year, I'd think that a MAC school would go after him and they would get a solid football player.
U Conn, Illinois, Toledo and Akron are the most interested right now.
