Bruce Weber Brought in the "Big Boys"

Illinois men's head Coach Bruce Weber may silenced some of his "recruiting" critics today by bringing some of the country's top recruits to Assembly today for the Blue and Orange Scrimmage. Read here for quotes from some of the fine athletes today in Champaign, IL.

Friday there was a lot of doubt if 6-2 All American point guard Derrick Rose from Chicago Simeon high school would attend the scrimmage today. Rose was there but decline interviews today because he didn't feel today was a good time to do so. However he did share that he really enjoyed what he saw today from the Illini, especially Dee and Deron, he really liked how they played as a team.

Mike Conley
6-1 the number #1 point guard in the class of 2006, a 5 star recruit from Scout.Com. This is what Conley had to say about what he saw from the Illini. "Man this was great today, they really push the ball up the court, I love Dee and Deron Williams game, they defend and shoot it well. They really are one of the top 5 teams in the nation, I really like what I saw tonight." Conley said his list of schools in this order: Wake Forest, Illinois, Indiana, MSU and Arkansas.

Albert Jackson
6-11 junior from Madison Kentucky was a surprise to everyone, this kid is a sleeper according to one parent. Jackson has the body of a NBA player and he's still growing. Jackson was in awe today from the scrimmage. "I love the way those guys play, I definitely plan to come back here. They really let their big guys roam on the perimeter, I've been really working on my game in the post and a consistent 10 foot jump-shot." Jackson is only 16 years old and he's 6-11 240 pounds and feels he may be 7-1 tall by the time he's a senior in high school.

Andre Walker
Very nice 6-6 small forward from Homewood Flossmoor, IL also liked what he saw today. "Right now a lot of major schools are starting to get involved with me, such as Illinois, Kansas and Arizona. "I can't believe Illinois has this many big time players here today.

Others that were at the scrimmage today were Jeremy Nash
a 6-3 shooting guard from Chicago Marist high school, Nash will be a guard you will hear a lot more about in the coming weeks here at Illiniboard.Com. Marcus Relphorde
a 6-4 guard also from Homewood Flossmoor was present.

Charles Jackson
The 6-8 power forward from Buena Vista, GA made his official visit today, but due to NCAA rules I was not allowed to speak with Jackson.
