"Charles committed to Illinois last night, I can't believe how excited he was when he came home from his visit this past weekend. He said the players and coaches were great and the excitement from the fans and community about their basketball was amazing. He has gone to a lot of schools officially and unofficially, and they were nothing like last weekend." said his high school coach, John McFather.
"Illinois is getting a tremendous athlete, and an even better person. Charles has always loved the Big Ten style of play, he's very physical kid that will not shy away from contact." added McFather.
Jackson appeared to really enjoy his visit to Illinois last weekend, applauding at almost every play during the Orange and Blue scrimmage. "Illinois is a great program with a good staff, they will take care of Charles and he will have a chance to compete for a title." McFather said.
"All the kids talked about were winning the Big Ten title, Big Ten tournament, and the NCAA tournament. Charles felt they had the players to do it and it was a focal point the entire time he was there." he said.
"Tomorrow we plan to make the announcement to the media to give Charles a chance to talk about Illinois." said McFather.
According to his coach, he goes 6-8, 240. He has great hands and great footwork around the basket along with the fact he loves to rebound. Jackson will join shooting guard Jamar Smith point guard Chester Fraizer and 6-8 David Palmer to round out the class.
