CHAMPAIGN, IL - Illinois men's basketball coach Bruce Weber underwent an appendectomy Monday afternoon at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Weber began experiencing some discomfort late last week and over the weekend. Following a doctor's examination Monday morning, it was determined that he should have his appendix removed. The surgery was successful and he may be released from the hospital tonight as an out-patient. Monday was a scheduled day off for the Illini and Weber is not expected to miss more than a day or two of practice. The fifth-ranked Illini are scheduled to open the regular season Friday, Nov. 19 against Delaware State.
