Champaign, IL - University of Illinois football seniors Matt Sinclair and Bucky Babcock have accepted invitations to compete in all-star games this January. Sinclair will head to Hawaii for the Hula Bowl, while Babcock joins teammate Duke Preston at the 80th Annual East West Shrine Game in San Francisco.
Babcock will take part in the Shrine Game, scheduled for Jan. 15 at SBC Park. For the second time in his career, Babcock earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors on the offensive line. He started 47 games in his Illini career and was a part of two record-setting offensive lines in 2001 and 2002. This all-star game has added meaning to him because his father, David, is a Shriner.
Sinclair will play linebacker in Maui at the 59th Annual Hula Bowl on Jan. 22. Sinclair has led the team in total tackles for the past two seasons. He was an honorable mention all-conference selection in 2003 and finished his career with 284 stops, including 154 solos. He also had 18 tackles for loss and 10 sacks.
