Update on Power Forward Trevor Mbakwe

Potential Illini recruit is having a monster season read here for his latest game.

Trevor Mbakwe, a 6-foot-8 sophomore power forward from St. Paul (MN) Henry Sibley, scored 20 points and grabbed 19 rebounds in the Warriors' 48-47 Classic Suburban opening win over Simley. Mbakwe played last week in front of Marquette head coch Tom Crean and Michigan assistant Chuck Swenson. He has received a scholarship offer from Marquette and Iowa State and is considered one of the top players in Minnesota among the Class of 2007 along with Bloomington Jefferson center Cole Aldrich. Mbakwe recently attended the Illinois-Wake Forest game. He is also receiving interest from Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Colorado, Valparaiso and Purdue. Mbakwe is averaging 27 points per game.

Considered one of the top players in Minnesota among the Class of 2007. Strong inside player and rebounder. Plays for Howard Pulley AAU team. Received offer from Iowa State before his sophomore season.

Mbakwe took an unofficial visit to Illinois earlier in this month when the Illini beat Wake Forest 91-73.
