Illinois Lineman - Pat Brown

Illinois will hit the recruiting trail hard after the dead period and there are still several in-state prospects that Ron Zook could bring to Champaign. Offensive lineman Pat Brown is one of those prospects. Brown has two January trips set and he's hoping a couple of Big Ten schools come calling.

"I'm going to visit TCU (1-14) and Western Michigan (1-21)," Pat Brown said. "Northwestern is still calling but they haven't offered yet and the new Indiana coach (Terry Hoeppner) called and they want me to come down for a visit also.

"I haven't heard from Illinois yet but it would be nice if I could take a visit down there before signing day. I'd love to end up at Illinois."

Brown, a 6-foot-6, 265-pounder, from St. Charles (Ill.) North, is a three-year varsity starter that was named all-conference and all-area the past two seasons.

You won't see Pat Brown in many recruiting databases because he's flown under the radar in 2004, especially with the offensive line depth in the state of Illinois.

Brown looked very good on film as a junior and was impressive in 2004 as well. Northwestern could end up offering Brown soon but that looks like a real stretch now that the Wildcats have 4 offensive line commitments.

Both TCU and Western Michigan have offered scholarships. Indiana will probably offer in January and Illinois will also take a look in January as well.
