Michigan WR/CB - Talonnie Russell

Talonnie Russell, the #4 prospect, in the state of Michigan, according to Scout.com, visited North Carolina before Christmas. Russell talks about that visit and what's on tap for January.

"I had a good time at North Carolina," said Russell.

"The facilities and campus at North Carolina are very nice.

"I had the chance to talk to the players and coaches on my visit and they answered all my questions.

"I got along very well with everyone on my visit and I'd say that North Carolina is my favorite but I haven't visited anyone else yet."

Russell, a 5-foot-11, 170-pounder, from Detroit (St. Martin De Porres) is a three-year varsity starter that was named all-state as a sophomore.

Russell is still looking at Michigan State, Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin as well as North Carolina (12/17) but hasn't set up any January official visits at this time.

Look for Illinois to put the full-court press on for Russell and he'll likely be in Champaign on an official visit on January 21st.

Russell is being recruited by new Illinois recruiting coordinator, Reggie Mitchell.

Coach Mitchell came to Illinois from Michigan State and made it no secret that Talonnie Russell was one of the Spartans top recruiting targets.

"I had a very good relationship with Coach Mitchell when he was at Michigan State." Russell said.

"It definitely helps Illinois that he's there but I'm still going to look at Michigan State, Minnesota and Wisconsin also."

Talonnie Russell is a tremendous athlete that could play wide receiver or cornerback at the next level. All favorites have offered a scholarship.
