Tri-County High School's boys basketball club won a Region 4-AA home game Tuesday 78-53 against Macon County. The Eagle led was 31-10 after one quarter and 43-22 at the half. Charles Jackson had 18 points, Quinterio Moses 14 and Corey Bryant 13 for the winners. The Eagles are 12-1, 4-0 in region play. Macon had 17 points from Kenneth Malone.

Not that things were much better for No. 9 Glenbrook North, which needed every one of Jon Scheyer's 25 points to win the battle of District 225 by a 45-37 count Saturday in Glenview.

"We know each other really well,'' Scheyer said. "You want to go out there and throw the first punch. The crowd was really into it, and that helped me stay intense and focused. It was a great atmosphere.''

The fans eventually stopped bothering to boo, as Scheyer dominated the game with 25 points.

"[Coach Dave Weber] has us do drills where we sprint and then take free throws,'' Scheyer said. "It helps us get used to shooting them when we're tired. It paid off [Saturday].''

Glenbrook North led 31-24 at the half. Jeff Ryan's steal and layup with 2:11 left brought Glenbrook South (11-3) within six points, but the Spartans shot 12-for-12 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.
