Jon Scheyer Watches Illini Last Night

Bruce Weber's Fighting Illini men's basketball team keeps making history and the recruits are taking notice more and more everyday. Read here for Jon Scheyer's thoughts on the Minnesota game and last night's Michigan St. victory.

Jon Scheyer a 6-5 shooting guard from Glenbrook North HS in Northbrook, Illinois and a 5-star recruit by our own Scout.com. He enjoyed what he saw last night when the Illini beat the Michigan State Spartans 81-68.

"Man, what can you say but what a great stretch of games they've had. They are very tough and they will be hard to beat," said Scheyer. Tonight the star guard was not bashful in saying how much he liked the Illini. "I'm in love with a couple of schools, but I can tell you I'm very comfortable with Illinois and what they are doing. What's even more impressive is how they are doing it on the road," he said.

Scheyer understands why he's getting a lot of pressure from friends to attend Illinois. "That's the least of my worries. They don't have to do that. I really like Illinois. They are fun to watch and they play together just like a great team should do. Coaches Weber, Price and Webster all are recruiting me," Scheyer added.

Although many schools would love to have this stud athlete, only Illinois, Duke, Wisconsin and Arizona have a shot at him. "I've been to all those schools but Arizona. Right now this is getting so hard for me, but I have time," Scheyer stated.

Last night will not be the last time he watches the Illini and he will keep a very close eye on how this season shapes up.
