Size and athleticism are two very important traits in the recruiting industry. Ebensburg (Pa.) Bishop Carroll defensive end/tight end Jeff Minemyer at 6-7 and 235 pounds, possesses both. Minemyer recently received his second written offer. Rutgers became the second school to offer, and Illinois was the first.
"Coach Ron Zook called the school on signing day and said they would like to offer me a scholarship," Minemyer said. "I was surprised, I was shaking and I was so nervous."
The attention hasn't caught him totally by surprise.
"I kind of felt there would be some interest because of my size and grades," Minemyer said. Minemyer carries a 4.0 GPA and will be taking the SAT on March, 12.
Minemyer Caught 6 passes for 86 yards, and 1 touchdown on offense. On defense he registered 55 tackles, 2 sacks, and 6 tackles for loss. For his efforts he was named Honorable Mention PA Football News all-state Class A,Tribune-Democrat second team all-area, and Altoona Mirror honorable mention all-area.
Minemyer attended a junior day at Virginia (2/12), he is planning on attending junior days at Pittsburgh (2/26) and Maryland (2/27). "Virginia was nice, I had a real good time," Minemyer said. "We spent the night down there, so I'm sure I got to see more than most."
