Richard Semrau Keeps List at Five

Richard Semrau is a 6-9 four-star recruit that has one impressive list of colleges vying for his services. Last night Semrau took the time to speak with Kedric Prince of Illiniboard.com about the Fighting Illini.

First, let's make this very clear right from the start. The University of Illinois has offered Semrau and this star player is interested. "My list at this point, in no particular order, is Illinois, Wake Forest, UNC, Florida and Kentucky," said Semrau. "This season was tough on me at times. I was double- and even triple-teamed at times, but my teammates did a good job of recognizing what they were doing to me and stepped up in a big way."

Usually when all the coaches come to see you and the head man makes a trip, you know how important you are to his program. "Coach Weber has been to my school twice, Coach Price has been here and Coach Webster. They are showing a lot of interest in me at this point," he added.

Semrau likes everything about the Illini. "There's nothing not to like. The conference does matter to me. The Big Ten is down a little but Illinois, I feel, can compete with the ACC schools. They play like most of the schools in that conference," added Semrau.

Semrau will be watching the NCAA tournament. "It's a great tournament. My dad is trying to get tickets so we can go watch some games. It should be fun."

Right now Richard carries a 3.0 GPA and scored a 23 on his ACT. His plans this summer will be to play some AAU basketball and attend the ABCD Camp. The list that Semrau gave is strong. "No way can I narrow this list to three schools at this point. They all have so much to offer." Semrau's recruitment will go down to the wire just like most star players, so stay tuned as we follow his play over the spring and summer.
