The University of Illinois spring football practice and scrimmage scheduled for Saturday, April 16 is now "Student Day" at Memorial Stadium. As part of Mom's Day weekend, all students are encouraged to come to the stadium for the Illini's second scrimmage of the spring season. Practice begins at 9 a.m., with the scrimmage beginning at approximately 9:30 a.m.
"Students are the lifeblood of the University and certainly bring a great amount of energy to sporting events," head coach Ron Zook said. "I watched what they were able to do at the Assembly Hall, the way they impacted games, and I know we need to get that same type of enthusiasm over at our football games. I want our students to come out and see a team that is working hard this spring and trying to put a product on the field that will make them proud to be Illini."
Food and drinks will be available to the public with hot dogs, chips and drinks on sale for $1 each. After the practice ends, students will be able to talk with Zook and the new coaching staff as well as the players.
