Kennedy looking at Illinois

Benji Kennedy will be among the top juniors in Illinois for the 2002 season. Kennedy talks about his contacts and early leaders.

Benji Kennedy, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound, dual-threat quarterback from Morris, Illinois will be among the top prospects in the Land of Lincoln in 2002.

According to Morris head coach, Dan Darlington, Kennedy has all the tools and the skills to produce at the next level.

"Benji is an incredible athlete." Darlington said. "His speed is legit and he's been running in the high 4.3 range as of late.

Benji has a strong arm and he makes good decisions on the field. He's as good a leader as I've ever coached."

Kennedy led his Redskin team to a runner-up finish in the Illinois (4A) State Championships, losing to perennial power, Joliet Catholic Academy.

Kennedy is hearing from several schools including Notre Dame, Nebraska, Northwestern, Purdue and Southern Cal.

"My top schools right now would be Northwestern, Illinois, Nebraska and Notre Dame." Kennedy said.

"I'm not sure about camps this summer. I've been to a junior day at Illinois but that's about it so far."

Kennedy threw for 1,000 yards as a junior and had a combined 23 rushing and passing touchdowns.
