``Coach (Bruce) Weber's philosophy is one of the things that really made it attractive to Richard," Lutheran West coach Phil Argenta said. "Illinois plays so unselfish." Semrau, who averaged 22 points in his junior campaign, had been receiving interest from the likes of Wake Forest, Florida and North Carolina.
Semrau's biggest strength was his ability to knock down the perimeter shot, but he hadn't been consistent with it in April and his stock had fallen. In fact, Wake Forest, Florida and North Carolina, according to sources, had backed off Semrau of late.
``I'm tickled to death for the kid," Argenta added. "They really share the ball and that was a big appeal to him. They have a great staff and treat guys like people."
