Tyron Shelley 6-6 Swingman has Illini interest

Tyrone Shelley is a name most Illini fans are not familiar with but according to his high school coach Terry Tucker that could all change.

Tyrone is a 6'6" swingman from Crawford HS in San Diego CA, who is a four star recruit according to Scout.com. Tucker said, "he's been contacted by the Illini coaching staff and they are very interested in Tyrone."

"Right now Shelley has offers from Arizona, Kansas, Minnesota, Boston College and San Diego St." according to Tucker. Also along with Illinois Shelley is hearing from UCLA, USC, Kentucky and Georgia Tech to name a few.

In a story done by Scout.com Greg Hicks back in March through 16 games, Shelley averaged 27 points, 12 rebounds, four blocks, three steals and three assists.

This is what Scout.com had to say about Shelley: "Tyrone Shelley is one of the best prospects in the class of 2007 on the west coast. He has a great, long body that could put on more weight, advanced skills and aggressiveness. He has the potential to be a top 25 national player in his class."
