National Attention for Illinois LB

Naperville (Ill.) North linebacker Osahon Tongo had a very good showing at the All-American Combine in Champaign, Ill., and the scholarship offers have started to roll in. The 6-foot-2, 220-pounder, talks about his most recent offers and he has a new list of favorites.

"I now have scholarship offers from Georgia Tech, Northwestern, Illinois, Kansas and Indiana." Osahon Tongo said.

"My favorites are Miami, Georgia Tech, Stanford, Illinois, Northwestern, Indiana and Kansas.

"Georgia Tech, Iowa State, Michigan State and Indiana are the schools that have called me recently."

As a junior, Tongo had 60 tackles, caused 4 fumbles and had 2 sacks. He was named all-area and all-conference. Osahon was the only junior to start on defense for the Huskies and he'll be a captain in '05.

Tongo's parents both have a degree from Purdue University and Osahon was born in West Lafayette but the Boilermakers have yet to throw their hat in the ring.

Tongo's list of scholarship offers is already impressive but there are still several schools waiting to see Osahon in action as a senior. Purdue is one of those schools.

"I'm not sure where I'm going to camp this summer," said Tongo. "I'm going to try and figure that out this week."
