Florida OL Piling up Offers

Zackery Handerson is one of the most athletic big men in the state of Florida this year. He has played tight end in his career, but his future is at offensive line. That is the position he worked out at during the Scout.com combine, and that is the position that has garnered him several offers this month.

"Indiana, Louisville, North Carolina, Vanderbilt, Illinois have offered," said Handerson. "Last night I got offers from East Carolina, Ball State, Bowling Green, and this morning, I got an offer from Auburn. I'm going to camp at Florida, Georgia, and I'm going to try and get to Auburn if possible. Coaches from Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, and Florida State came by the school last week."

Does Handerson have any favorites this early in the process?

"My favorites in no real order right now is Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Vanderbilt, Illinois, and Indiana."

What does Handerson like about each of his favorite schools.

Florida - "I like Florida because of their academic program. I'm an academic kid, and my philosophy is that I'm going to school for an education, and I happen to get the opportunity to play football while I'm doing it."

Georgia - "I like the academic program at Georgia as well. I took an unofficial visit to Georgia, and I liked what I saw."

North Carolina - "North Carolina is a good academic school too and has an excellent English School, and that's exactly what I'm after."

Vanderbilt - "They are an excellent academic school too. It's a private school with small classes, and that's something I'm excited about and something I like."

Illinois - "I like Coach Zook, and I like what he's done with the program. I'll continue to research their program. I know they have a good business school."

Indiana - "I love that program. My mother knows the President there, and I know him too. Dr. Herbert is a very nice man, and he goes out of his way to get me information about their academic programs and my intended fields of study."

Expect coaches to be impressed with the 6-7 and 250 pounder as he hits the college camp circuit. I know we were impressed with his athleticism at the Scout.com Combine last month.
