Chester Frazier, a 6-foot-2 guard from Notre Dame Prep in Massachusetts, is on campus at Illinois and ready to go. "Right now I'm taking two summer school classes to help me get used to college life. Things are going very well right now," said Frazier.
Frazier is very happy to finally be on campus with his future teammates. "We play every day. These guys are very good. Man, Calvin Brock is a great athlete; he's going to be very good," stated Frazier. According to Frazier, there's no set time the team plays but they lift weights together, go to class, and play basketball. Life is great.
Right now Frazier is living with another freshman, Jamar Smith from Peoria, Illinois. "Man, Jamar can fill it up. He's shooting the ball really well right now. We get along great. He's going to be good."
Coming from the prep ranks to the collegiate ranks is a big jump. The speed of the game, how physical the game is, and how hard they play all the time are some of the things Frazier notices. But he's holding his own. "I play good defense, make sure I get my teammates involved, and do what a point guard is supposed to do." For now, Frazier is learning the system and getting to know all of his teammates.
