Illini Secures Front Court with Verbal

Just last week Brian Carlwell, the 6-10 big man from Proviso East High School in Illinois, visited the University of Illinois and decided to play for Head Coach Bruce Weber.

As reported by Kedric Prince of, Brian Carlwell commits to Illinois. Brian Carlwell is rated the 37th best high school prospect in the nation according to, and his stock is rising each time out.

Carlwell has stated many times that he's had a great relationship with the coaches at Illinois. "I love the staff down there. They are great guys and they work very hard there. Just last year they were in the final four in just Weber's second year," said Carlwell.

Just last month Weber received another verbal from Richard Semrau of Ohio, who is also considered one of the nation's best big men. Both Semrau and Carlwell are four-star recruits.

Currently Sherron Collins of Chicago Crane is the best player in the class of 2006 in Illinois and Carlwell plans to make a phone call to Collins. "Sherron is a great player and I would love to play with him at Illinois. I know they are recruiting him pretty hard right now too," added Carlwell.

Carlwell picked Illinois over Michigan State and Florida State. He is the best big man in the State of Illinois right now. Carlwell gives Weber a nice front line to choose from. Next year he will have 6-9 sophomore Shaun Pruitt and 6-9 incoming freshman Charles Jackson from Buena Vista, Georgia already on campus.
