Richard Semrau and Family Make Visit

Illini recruit Richard Semrau took the time last night to visit with's Kedric Prince about his summer to date and what's in store for this Illini recruit. Get inside to see what he thinks of his new team-to-be.

Richard Semrau is a 6'9" power forward from Lutheran West (Ohio), who committed to Illinois' Bruce Weber back on May 1st of this year. "I'm still very excited about my decision to attend Illinois. They are a great program with a lot of good players," said Semrau.

This summer hasn't been perfect for Semrau, who is trying to get healthy again from hyper-extending his knee right before the ABCD Camp a couple weeks ago. "I've been working to get it back in good playing shape again. I've been working out a lot on my own and I also go in to see my coach. He helps me with it but it feels good right now."

This spring Semrau was a slim 205 but he claims that right now he's a solid 225 and getting stronger everyday.

Just a few weeks ago Semrau decided he'd better take his family down to Champaign to see where he will hopefully spend the next four years of his life. "My parents really liked the campus and they love the academics that Illinois has to offer. They thought it was quite big, but maybe if I'm lucky they'll get me some transportation," said Semrau.

On this visit he also took the time to play with some of his future teammates. "I held my own with the guys. Last time I was here I was a little smaller and new to all this. You sure can tell how strong and quick the players are once you play with them. They all played really well. I was really impressed with the transfer kid; Trent Meachum is a really good player."

This weekend Semrau plans to attend the Las Vegas Big Time team camp and said he hopes to have a good outing to show off what he's worked on this summer.
