Bassett Attempts to Seize Golden Opportunity

Armon Bassett, a four-star recruit from Terre Haute South Vigo HS in Indiana, has been making some noise throughout the summer, read here for what Bassett hopes to accomplish this weekend at the Las Vegas Big Time Team Camp.

Everyone that knows Armon Bassett understands his feelings towards the University of Illinois and that hasn't changed much to this date. Next year, Bassett plans to attend prep school at Hargrave Military Academy and reports to school on August 22nd. "I can't wait to get there, I'm ready to get going. I have been playing really well as of late," said Bassett.

Right now Bassett is in Vegas waiting to start playing games. "I'm not for sure but I think we start play tonight at midnight, it's really strange I guess, but I'm ready for it," he added.

Bassett said this summer Coach Bruce Weber came to see him play, but there was a "huge mix up with game times or something like that." "The assistant coaches saw me play and I think they liked what they saw. Now this weekend I have to impress Coach Weber. Illinois has really turned up the heat with me lately and I like that. If I play well this weekend, Illinois might offer me a scholarship."

Chicago Crane's point guard Sherron Collins still appears to be the number one priority for the Illini and Bassett knows that, but he's not backing down from anything. "I'm sure Coach Weber will be looking at Sherron this weekend so this will be my chance to show what I can do."

Like most great players there's that list of schools that they like to mention. Bassett said after this weekend he plans to narrow his list down to two to three schools. He did not state the two or three schools, but it is certain that Illinois will appear on his list.
