RB Brandon James Update

IlliniBoard.com's Joe Deien caught up with St. Augustine High School (Florida) RB Brandon James to get an update on his recruitment. Brandon provides answers on who has risen to the top in his recruitment and where the Illini sit in his recruitment in this update from IlliniBoard.com.

Brandon James and his St. Augustine High School squad have gotten off to a great start to the season. The team is 3-0 and Brandon has found the end zone 6 times in those three games.

When asked about how his recruiting has gone, James mentioned three schools that have risen to the top: South Carolina, Louisville, and Penn State.

South Carolina: "The thing I like about South Carolina is their offense. Steve Spurrier is known for his offense."

Louisville: "Just like South Carolina, the offense is a big draw. Louisville's offense is very explosive."

Penn State: "I really like the tradition and history at Penn State."

It's obvious that being in an up-tempo offense is a big factor for James, who wants to make a decision after his football season is complete and he has a chance to sit down and look at all of his schools.

Illinois has slid down James's list lately as he is not quite sure what position Coach Ron Zook is recruiting him for.

"Illinois has gone down the list lately as I don't know what position Ron Zook is recruiting me for. He hasn't decided. He called and left a message the other day, but I haven't gotten back to him yet."

James has a visit set up for Penn State on October 8th when the Nittany Lions host Ohio State. He is then headed to South Carolina on October 22nd.
