RB Mitchell Moore Update

IlliniBoard.com's Joe Deien caught up with Warren Township High School RB Mitchell Moore to get an update on his recruitment. Mitchell provides answers on how his high school season is progressing, what offers he has on the table, who his current favorites are, and if he is planning on committing anywhere soon in this update from IlliniBoard.com.

The recruiting process has recently picked up for Mitchell Moore and he has landed his first offer. Though he has seen increased phone calls and letters, Iowa State is the only school that has put forth an offer thus far.

"My team is 3-0 right now. I got off to a rough start in my first couple of games, but had a lot better game this past weekend. I had 153 yards rushing and 60 receiving yards."

Moore noticed what his problems were in the first few games and looked for ways to get around them.

"It was tough because teams were putting 9 guys in the box to try and trying to key on me and that made it hard to run the ball. It made me learn, though, that I need to be patient and follow my blocks. I did that in the last game and played much better."

Iowa State has offered the talented runner, and he feels that Illinois may soon be offering him as well.

"I saw Iowa State beat Iowa and that was a good game," Moore said. "I liked how they use their running backs and they're the only school that has offered me thus far, so they have to be on top of my list."

"I like Illinois, too. They are close to home and have a new head coach that is doing good things. I've been around campus and know people from down there."

"Coach Zook hasn't decided if he's recruiting me to play offense or defense right now."

"Toledo is also getting into the picture. They have been calling a lot lately."

Moore is also looking at Purdue, Iowa, and Northern Illinois.

"I have a good relationship with Coach Hagan from Purdue. I want to get over there to see their campus and meet the coaches to see if that is a place that I could see myself going to."

"It's the same thing with Iowa (as is with Purdue)."

Moore wants to be patient and wait to see if he is going to get offers from the other schools that he is looking at now that he has started to have more success this season. He feels that Illinois is close to offering. So, don't expect a commitment anytime soon. He said he would go ahead and commit to Iowa State at a later date if he doesn't receive any more offers.
