Illini Commit Still Taking Visits

Marques Wilkins, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound, wide receiver, from MacArthur High in Decatur, Ill., gave the University of Illinois his verbal commitment earlier this season and despite the problems the Fighting Illini have had on the football field, Wilkins remains a solid Illinois commitment.

"I'm committed but I'm going to take some visits," Wilkins said. "I want to see some other schools and I owe it to myself to look around a little bit.

"I have a lot of schools still calling and they are all using the fact that Illinois is struggling on the field as their main sales pitch but that hasn't fazed me too much."

Wilkins, a four-star prospect, ranked No. 23 in the Midwest according to says he's hearing from Notre Dame and Purdue on a weekly basis and he's considering official visits with the Irish and Boilermakers as well as Missouri, Wisconsin and UCLA.
