"The Atmosphere was great!" - Eric Gordon

This past weekend Illinois hosted two of the best high school basketball players in the nation for its Midnight Madness: Derrick Rose and Eric Gordon. The Assembly Hall took in 13,404 to see this year's Illini. Read here for an interview with Eric Gordon.

Eric Gordon is a 6-4 shooting guard from Indiana and has made no secret that Illinois is his favorite school. On Friday night I spoke with Gordon to get a feel how his recruitment was going and what the thought of his day in Champaign.

"The atmosphere was great! I mean, what can you say, they did a great job. The fans really get into their basketball here and I like that," Gordon said.

The day was a long one for this 5-star recruit, coming to spend the day at Illinois and then making the drive to South Bend, Indiana for a visit and to catch the USC / Notre Dame football game.

"Today I had a great time here. I got to watch them practice and see Coach Weber in action, and it was just like I thought it would be. They get after it and he knows the game."

Gordon admits that he's getting pressure from a lot of schools to commit, but he's taking his time. "This isn't the first time I've been to Illinois and I'm coming back. As far as other schools, I will visit Kentucky, Indiana and Notre Dame at this point."

Now that they lost Illinois native Sherron Collins to Kansas, I'm sure the Illini will turn up the heat even more on Gordon and Rose.
