One of the things Ron Zook and his coaching staff have looked to do in their recruiting this season is increase the team speed of the Illini, especially in the defensive backfield. Read more in this update from IlliniBoard and Scout.com on 3-star Georgia DB David Pender.

Georgia CB David Pender is a player that has kind of flew under the radar to a lot of recruiters so far in 2006. Now he's finally getting the attention he deserves and the speedy Charlton County player has narrowed his list to three schools. Who are they?

"I like South Carolina, Illinois and Purdue. All of those schools have offered me."

What stands out to David about the Gamecocks, Illini and Boilermakers?

South Carolina: "That's the only school that's close to home that I'm looking at."

Illinois: "Coach Disch tells me that if I come that way I can start right away."

Purdue: "I would have a shot at early playing time there also."

David has set one official visit so far.

"I'm supposed to be taking a visit in January up to Purdue and that's the only one I know of. I want to check out the campus and the way they do things."
