Eric Gordon is a point guard from Indiana that's a top priority recruit for Illinois and these days Gordon knows how important he is to Illinois and the future of their basketball team. "I really enjoy going there every time. The fans are so good to me; I mean they cheered my name. That was awesome. What's too cool about it is because it's at Illinois - a major college doing that. I really like it," said Gordon.
This time Gordon didn't go alone. He took his dad and his brothers who all enjoyed this visit as well. "They really liked the game. They started off kind of slow but I knew they would get things turned around. In the end they took care of business and got the win."
Gordon also said he and Derrick Rose, a point guard from Chicago Simeon High School, text message each other quite a bit these days. "We stay in contact about high school and college. We both know where we stand as far as Illinois is concerned. I know he likes Illinois a lot. For me, they are still my leader at this point," Gordon said.
Basketball is going great for Gordon so far this season. "We should be really good again this year, but from a personal standpoint I have to continue to work on my game to get better."
Most thought this 5-star recruit was going to verbal to the Illini this past weekend, but Gordon still feels it's just right to wait a little longer before he picks a school. Whoever gets the verbal from this kid will not only get a great high school basketball player but a fine gentleman as well: very well spoken, intelligent, and knows what he wants from college and his teammates.
The Illini will need to keep focused on Gordon and bring in other recruits if they are to remain a consistent Top 25 basketball program.
