"My #1 Priority is Derrick Rose" Eric Gordon.

Illini Nation has been buzzing since the verbal commitment of Indiana's super junior Eric Gordon and the big road win over the 2005 national champions North Carolina Tar Heels. Today I spoke with Eric Gordon on his decision to play for Illinois and how he plans to work on Chicago high school prep Derrick Rose.

Yesterday at 3:15, 6-4 shooting guard from Indianapolis Eric Gordon held a press conference about his verbal commitment to the University of Illinois. "I'm just glad that I made it public, I really like what's going on at Illinois." Gordon said.

Some are questioning if Gordon is committing to the Illini too early and if he'll waver. Well, Gordon took care of that. "I'm 100% committed, I have no plans of plans of playing anywhere but Illinois. Everyone is happy for me that I'm going there, people I don't even know are congratulating me, it's really cool." said Gordon.

Gordon was watching the Illinois and North Carolina game Tuesday night. "People kept talking about how young North Carolina was but what about Illinois? They played good but they have a lot of new players that didn't play much last year either, they played good I thought."

Earlier I spoke with Eric Gordon Sr. about the feelings Duke had about the commitment and today Eric junior said, "Duke was very disappointed because they felt like they didn't get a fair shake at recruiting me, I didn't get to really know the staff down there or visit them. I have to be honest I really didn't want to get that far away from home. Illinois is close enough that my family can come see me play" he added.

Gordon is not going to be shy about getting players to come to Illinois with him. " Right now my number one priority is Derrick Rose, I think if he came to Illinois with me we could get right back to the Final Four again."
