Williams Won't Be an Easy Sell

CB Robert Williams has already visited Minnesota and Maryland, but his recruitment is not over. He is planning on visiting West Virginia this weekend, and then Illinois on the weekend of December 16. Read more on his recruitment process in this update from Scout.com's Chris Pool

Robert Williams, the No. 6 cornerback prospect, in the Midwest, according to Scout.com, is continuing to take his official visits. The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder, from Withrow High in Cincinnati, Ohio has already visited Minnesota and Maryland. West Virginia is up next.

"Robert is continuing to take visits and he won't be an easy sell," said Withrow coach, Doc Gamble.

"Robert is very mature, he knows what he's looking for in a school and he's going to do his homework. He'll be at West Virginia (12-9) this weekend and he's going to Illinois (12-16) next weekend."

Williams was a little dinged up in 2005 but when he was healthy, he had some amazing battles in practice with teammate and Minnesota commitment Jamar Howard.

"We had some college coaches come out and watch Robert and Jamar go at it." Coach Gamble said. "That had to be quite a treat for them.

"When Robert did play this year, he performed very well but the other teams vary rarely ever threw the football to his side of the field."

Doc Gamble has done a sensational job since taking over the Withrow football program three year ago. Coach Gamble will have several players sign D-1 letters of intent this February, a far cry from the days three years ago when he only had 31 kids in the whole school playing football.
