Chris James is a 6'0 WR from Morgan Park High School in Chicago. He is rated as the 62nd overall WR in the country and is one of the top slot receivers in the Midwest. This past weekend he was in Champaign for an official visit with the Fighting Illini.
"My visit went exceptionally well. It was a lot of fun."
"I feel very comfortable at Illinois and that's the biggest reason why I am committed there. It feels just like being in high school as far as comfort levels go."
There were rumors at one point that James was considering taking another visit or two, but that is definitely not the case now.
"I am not taking any more visits; only this one to Illinois. I'm 200% committed to the Illini. If there was ever any doubt, this visit erased and at was very reassuring. I was pretty solid with my commitment to Illinois for the past month, though."
James said that he have a great time with the recruits that he already knew, but also made sure to spend some time with some of the out of state guys.
"I met and talked with the Atlanta boys…Reshad Jones and the rest. I also got to meet Andre Wicker, Travon Bellamy, and the guy from Rich East (Jon Asamoah).
I didn't try to pressure them at all, but I did tell them about how comfortable I felt at Illinois and tried to show them the things that made it so comfortable for me. I just wanted to show them a good time."
James thinks that he is a good fit for this offense and sees himself getting a chance to get on the field early in his career. He is one of three standout recruits from Morgan Park High School, along with QB Demetrius Jones (Notre Dame) and OL Ramone Johnson, who was scheduled to visit this weekend as well, but he was unable to make it after taking the ACT test this weekend.
