"I Knew Where I Wanted to Be" – Bill Cole

Bill Cole had waited long enough. He knew Illinois was the place for him, so he decided to make it official to Head Coach Bruce Weber and Co.

Bill Cole is a very skilled 6'10" big man from Peoria, Illinois. Cole will be just another star player to play for Illinois from the hotbed of players. "I just knew where I wanted to play basketball at," said Cole. Currently Cole is a four-start recruit by Scout.com. Recently, Cole finished with 21 points, 16 boards, three blocks, three steals and an assist.

When I asked Cole about all the recruiting buzz going on around Champaign, he's fully aware of what direction the Illini program is going. "I've talked to Derrick before but only during the summer months. I know they signed Eric Gordon, so things are really picking up for Illinois," Cole said.

The sky's the limit for Cole. This past weekend he was compared to a combination of two former Illini players: Nick Smith and Jack Ingram. Cole has the ability to shoot the ball from the perimeter and he's not afraid to bang down low.

This is what Scout.com has to say about Cole: "Talented prospect who has a game which allows him to play facing the basket. Soft touch extends to 3-point range. Will have to get stronger and add post moves to his arsenal but you can't teach the skill package that he has put together midway through his high school career."

Looking down the road for Illini fans, imagine a front line someday of Shaun Pruitt, Charles Jackson, Brian Carlwell, and Richard Semrau; all of which fits well into Weber's system. Not too bad for a guy that's not known as a "recruiter".
