Richard Semrau Update

Like most recruits that commit to a school - they all try to watch their future teammates play - Semrau tries very hard and pays attention to what Eric Gordon is doing. Read here for more details.

Richard Semrau, a 6'9" big man from Lutheran West (Ohio), is off to a great start to his campaign. "Right now I'm averaging about 24 ppg and 12 rebounds. My game has picked up a lot lately and that's good because later our schedule will get tougher. I don't see us losing a game for awhile though," Semrau said.

Semrau hasn't seen too many Illini games but does keep close tabs on the program. "Yeah, I know they lost to Indiana the other day and that's not good but they have great players down there. Things will be fine." Just like Semrau keeps tabs on his future teammates, the Illini coaches keep tabs on him. "Coach Price and Coach Weber call me about every week. They show how much they care about me as a player," Semrau added.

Strength will be the key for this big man when he gets to Champaign. "I can't wait to get down there; it's going to be a great experience for me. I think I'm supposed to report there on campus June 10th so I can get adjusted to college life and the campus."

Recruiting is a tough business because Semrau went through the entire process himself and really doesn't pay as much attention to it as some players do, but he does with the most highly recruit Weber has landed - Eric Gordon. "Oh yes, I know they signed Eric. He's a great player that will help make us better."
