Iowa Star Has Interest in Illini

Colin Sandeman is a star in the making and college coaches all across the country are taking notice of this Bettendorf, Iowa native.

Just last Saturday Colin Sandeman, a 6-1 junior, received his first full scholarship offer from the Iowa State Cyclones. Sandeman admits he was honored to get the offer but hasn't accepted it yet.

"Right now it's still very early for me in the recruiting process. I will make a commitment before my senior year, because I just want to concentrate on my senior season," said Sandeman.

Because Sandeman is an Iowa kid naturally Iowa State and Iowa have real good chances, but that doesn't mean they're locks. "I've received a lot of information on Illinois lately. I know they have a new coach and he's trying to get things turned around. If Illinois offered me a scholarship, I would definitely take a visit," he said.

Sandeman has been to the combines and colleges took notes. His list includes (in no particular order): Iowa State, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, North Carolina, Wisconsin and now Notre Dame. "Yesterday the Notre Dame staff called one of my high school coaches for information on me. I couldn't believe it, but he did so I'm going to add them to the list," Sandeman stated.

Watching the Scout.com video and having the chance to see him in person three times, he appears to be a star in the making. Most coaches in the area say he's the next former-Iowa star, Tim Dwight.

"If Illinois had a day when they bring in all of their recruits, I'd love to go visit. So at this point I'll just wait until I hear more from them. The good thing about Illinois is it's not too far away from home for me," Sandeman said.

Most schools are telling him that he will be a natural in the WR position, and when Iowa State offered they told him that's where he would play, and that seemed to make the young man very happy.

Stay tuned because Sandeman will most likely get to pick the college choice of his dreams.
