Illini a Four Seed in Washington, D.C.

The NCAA Tournament Selection Committee announced the pairings on Sunday evening, and the Fighting Illini were named the four seed in the Washington, D.C. Bracket. The Illini's first round match up is with a fellow at-large selection Air Force out of the Mountain West Conference.

Despite many experts (Joe Lunardi specifically) believing that the Illini would be named a two seed, the Selection Committee decided that the Illini deserved a four seed in the Washington, D.C. bracket. The Illini will face Air Force on Thursday in San Diego.

If the Illini win their first round game, they could face the five seed Washington Huskies in the second round, and a Sweet 16 matchup with UConn looms.
