Illinois DT Names Leader

Usually the top prospects in the Land of Lincoln come from the Windy City but Central Illinois is well represented this year and defensive tackle Josh Brent could be the top prospect in the state. The 6-foot-3, 295-pound, defensive tackle, from Central Catholic High in Bloomington has offers and a leader.

"My offers are Illinois, Indiana, Iowa and Minnesota," Josh Brent said.

"My favorites are Notre Dame, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Indiana and Northwestern. Illinois is probably my leader right now. I've been there the most and I know them the best. The campus is only 40 minutes away and I can get over there whenever I want.

"Michael "Ho" Hoomanawanui is a good friend of mine and he's going to be at Illinois next year. Michael Ho is the reason that I started to play football so we're pretty close."

Brent was scheduled to participate at the All-American Combine at the University of Iowa on April 22nd but he has since made other plans.

"I'm going to Notre Dame's Blue-Gold game," Brent explained. "I was going to come to the Iowa combine but I changed my mind. I want to be able to get over to Notre Dame to check out the campus and the atmosphere."

Brent had 109 tackles, 29 tackles for loss and six sacks as a junior. Those numbers were good enough to earn Josh all-area and all-conference honors.

What camps will Brent be hitting this summer?

"I'm going to the Illinois and Notre Dame one-day camps." Brent said. "I'm also going to try and get down to Tennessee for their camp." Schools recruiting Josh Brent will need to make a quick decision on whether or not to

offer him a scholarship.

"I definitely want to commit early," Brent said. "I want to have a clear conscience going into my senior season. I don't want to have worry about recruiting. I'm going
