Class of 08' Recruit likes Illinois

Bruce Weber is really starting to make waves all across the country when it comes to recruiting. Matt Simpkins a 6-9 Power Forward from California now list the Illini. Get inside for more on this star in the making.

Matt Simpkins of Capital Christian high school in Sacramento California is making some waves in the recruiting game, not only are the big schools taking notice but Simpkins has a mighty fine list he's developing. "Right now in no particular order I like Uconn, Arizona, Illinois, Florida and Washington. All those schools are great and when the time is right I can't go wrong with any of them" said Simpkins.

This 08' recruit to points out that he likes the Illini a lot, but he really likes the relationship he's building with Illinois' Assistant Coach Tracy Webster. "I really like Coach Webester, he's a great guy and he seems very honest with me and I like what he has to say."

Even though right now it appears that Illinois came in late in Simpkins recruitment they are making up some serious ground. According to the soft-spoken giant, the Illini have just started to make a strong push for his services.

At this point Illinois has not offered to Simpkins but if his play continues to rise, this young man will have plenty of offers.

This is what Scout.com had to say about Simpkins: His game has made strides as his body catches up to his talents. Good looking athlete who can score it down low and get out and run the floor. Young post with good size, moves fairly well. Moderate skill level at this point. JR:Body and athleticism to play at high major level. Skills and feel for the game need to improve.
