Michigan Point Guard Has Top Three

Anthony Crater is a hot commodity in the class of 2008. Last month Illiniboard.com spoke with him about which schools interested him most; last night he gave us the three schools he likes at this point. Read here for an update on Crater.

This weekend, reports are Indiana guard Eric Gordon will be in town for another visit, but Michigan native Anthony Crater will not be in town with him. "I wasn't sure he was coming to Illinois this weekend or next weekend, but I'm going to Michigan this weekend. They are taking me to the Michigan and Michigan State game. I mean, I have to give them a look - I'm from Michigan. The three schools I like are Arizona, Illinois and Ohio State. I really had a great visit in Arizona. I like everything about it: the school, basketball and the weather," said Crater.

All three schools that Crater lists have offered the five-star athlete, but Crater is waiting to see how things play out.

One thing that hasn't changed is how Crater looks at schools. "I want to see everyone play. I have to admit I really, really enjoyed my visit to Arizona. I've never seen a school push the ball up the court the way they do. We would go to seven and before you knew it - the games would be over. Coaches said that's the style they are going to play out there and I liked what I saw. I'm going to Midnight Madness in Kansas. Coach Self talks a lot about the three guards at Illinois. I didn't know he recruited them; he told me that," Crater said.

"One thing that's not going to change is how I like to play. I don't want people to think I'm afraid of competition because I'm not. I want to go to a school with good players around so we can win a national championship and I can come in right away and make a difference. I will watch all the schools play this year and see for myself and pay close attention to it."

It should be very interesting with this recruitment because Crater is correct in the fact that Arizona, Illinois and Ohio State get up and down the court. However, Kansas plays more of a high-low game, though they have great players at KU. Having said that, Crater wasn't really aware of the talent level of future KU guard Sherron Collins. I'm sure he'll get a glimpse on his visit.

Crater stated to Illiniboard.com that he plans to visit Assembly Hall again for a game. When that time comes - we'll keep you updated.
