Tyler Storm was the most attractive player at the Geneseo, IL Midwest Showcase on Saturday, along another junior, Allen McGaha, a 6-2 guard from Chicago Foreman. David Brown, a 6-2 two guard from Roscoe (IL) Hononegah caught the eye of a number of scouts and college coaches, as well.
Storm is only a junior and is considered one of the best players in his class from the state of Illinois. He showed all parts of his game, which is shooting the three, taking people off the dribble, defense and dunking in traffic. The part of his game that impresses me the most was his ability to play a number of positions, and he plays hard. According to his father Brad, DePaul offered him a scholarship last week. "Right now he's just waiting to see what's all going to take place, he's never really thought much about the Big East until the offered but were going to wait and see, also a number of Missouri Valley schools are showing a lot of interest. Just last week Penn State was here to see him work out. They plan to come back to see him this winter" said Brad.
Illinois isn't letting other Big 10 schools get the upper hand on local talent. "Tyler receives mail from Illinois a lot and we've been down there for a visit." Iowa sent a assistant coach out to visit with Tyler and his father about a month ago also.
Because Tyler's stock is rising I'm sure other schools will start to take interest, he plays AAU basketball for the Martin Brothers who were in attendance on Saturday.
Also there were a few class of 2010 players that more than held their own in this all day event, more on those players later here at Illiniboard.com
