Lonnie Hurst, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound, wide receiver from Detroit (Jesuit) is considered one of the top prospects in the Midwest.
Hurst will be a three-year varsity starter in 2002. He had 900 receiving yards and nine touchdowns as a junior.
"Michigan State, Illinois, Northwestern, Iowa, Indiana, Purdue, Boston College, Colorado, Wisconsin and Toledo have offered me a scholarship." Hurst said.
"My favorites are Michigan State, Illinois, Purdue, Colorado and Northwestern. Illinois is my leader.
"Illinois runs a pro-style offense and their wide receivers get a lot of recognition. I also like coach (Ron) Turner."
Hurst was named 1st team all-city as a junior and honorable mention all-sate. He camped at Michigan State this summer.
Hurst also letters in basketball and track. He carries a 3.3 GPA in the classroom and scored 30 on his ACT.
