Mark Jackson Verbaled on Visit

Ron Zook is working the recruiting line like no other right now and it's paying off for him. On Saturday center Mark Jackson the Columbus, Ohio native gave him the word that he would play for the Illini. Get inside.

"I was down there on a visit and loved the place so I committed on Saturday. It's a great situation. I really liked the coaches. One of my former teammates, Jeff Cumberland, is there; I'm really excited about that," said Jackson.

Every football recruit gives the same spiel when it comes to Illinois football these days: Coach Zook is for real; he's honest and people who know anything about Illinois football knows they were young last year and they will be good next year. Jackson said those words too.

Jackson will graduate next Thursday. "I can't wait because I get to be on campus in January to start my classes," Jackson said.

Jackson is rated the 11th best prospect for his position by Scout.com. He's a remarkable athlete that stands 6-5, 290 and runs a 5.2 40 yard dash. Jackson visited Indiana and was offered a scholarship by Michigan State.
