Coaches are Coming to See Him Play

Matthew Humphrey, one of the State of Illinois' top preps in the class of 2008, took the time to talk with Read here for more on Humphrey and which college suitors are talking with him.

This situation with Matt Humphrey is a tough one to say the least. He's a 6-5 shooting guard who plays his high school hoops for Hales Franciscan in Illinois. Here at he's listed as a four-star recruit, but for some reason not a lot of offers have been put on the table.

"I'm just playing my game. I'm not going to commit right now anyway. I will narrow down my list of schools when the season is over. We have played nine games this season and every game there's been a college coach come to see me play. Just the other day Coach Weber saw me play so they are interested, but I don't think they have offered. That's something you will have to check with my dad about," said Humphrey.

Humphrey gave his list of schools that are showing the most interest in him and they are, in no particular order: Wake Forest, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Stanford, Illinois and Indiana.

The season isn't going as planned for Humphrey. "We've lost five games already by three points or less. We have the talent but for some reason we can't close out games. That's something we're trying to get fixed. We have good guard play but now it's just a matter of finishing the games."

According to Matthew he's averaging 15 ppg and 6 rebounds. "I've been playing okay I guess, but right now I really want to start winning. We'll get that turned around." The Hales Franciscan Spartans will take on Guerin Prep on Friday. Maybe they can get back on track.
