Recently Richardson competed in Champaign against another Illini recruiting target - Lewis Jackson of Decatur, Illinois. "I started the game okay, but I didn't finish too well. I have to do a better job of that and I will. I just needed to step my game up a little bit more," said Richardson.
Richardson is considered by most to be the top recruit in the 2009 class. "I've been offered a scholarship by Illinois, and I like how they play. I was down there for Midnight Madness. I don't know when I'll be going back because of my schedule, but I will be."
Head Coach Bruce Weber is a great judge of talent, no doubt. That's why the scholarship was put on the table to 2010 recruit Jereme Richmond. "Man, that kid can play. He's got mad skills. I'm pretty cool with him, too. He asked me to be his friend on Myspace so we talk a lot. I saw him play in Deerfield last year; he's very talented. When he committed to Illinois he called me and told me he was going to commit. He wants me to go there, too. I know if we did play on the same college team we would have a great backcourt," Richardson said.
Even though Richardson doesn't have a leader at this point, most experts feel Illinois should have a great shot at this four-star recruit.
