Scouting Report on Joseph Bertrand

Joseph Bertrand a 6-4 guard from Sterling Illinois has the eye of head Coach Bruce Weber. Yesterday at the State Farm Holiday Classic Bertrand's Sterling Golden Warriors lost to Rock Island Alleman, read here for an update on Bertrand's performance.

Box score: 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assist.

Height and weight: 6-4 (160)

Class 2009

Position: Combo guard, however Bertrand really flourishes more at the point guard position where he's able to create for himself and his teammates.

Colleges of interest: Illinois, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Iowa State, SIU and Bradley

Skill level: Very athletic, handles the ball very well, smooth and understands the game.

Upside: High major Bertrand has the tools to play at the next level, people sometimes forget he's 15 and a sophomore in high school, plenty of time to mature as a player. He's very quick and can jump with the best of them. High level, yes that's why head Coach Bruce Weber was in attendance yesterday.

Defense: Very solid because of his athletic ability. Bertrand spent most of the game in foul trouble, therefore he backed off some.

Taking charge: Most high school athletes sometimes don't really know how good they are. Yesterday Bertrand was the best player on the floor clearly, but at times he never took advantage of his skill level, but will come more with maturity.

Next game: Sterling plays Mt. Zion at 1:00 p.m. at the IWU Shirk Center in Bloomington, Illinois.
