Iman Shumpert Talks Illini Hoops

Iman Shumpert, a 6-foot-4 wing out of Oak Park (IL), River Forest said colleges are starting to come watch him play. Just last weekend Shumpert had a visitor from the staff at Illinois. Read here for more on Shumpert.

Iman Shumpert is listed as a wing but definitely plans to be a guard in college. "I want to be a guard. I think I have the skill to be a good guard at the next level. I like what Illinois does with their guards; they are very effective either in the NBA or overseas and I like that. Just last week Assistant Coach Tracy Webster came to see me play," said Shumpert.

There will be no early commitment from this Illinois native. "I plan to wait until the season is over before I make a decision on a college and it's too early at this point."

Shumpert reported earlier that he's made an unofficial visit to Wisconsin but also has been to visit Bruce Weber and his team. "I've been down there a number of times. They haven't offered me a scholarship yet, but Northwestern, SIU, UNI, Bradley, Toledo and Northern Illinois have. There's still a lot of time for me to see what's out there," said Shumpert.

According to Shumpert, he's having a nice season. He's a member of the 2008 class and just recently made the All-Tournament team at the Pontiac Holiday Tournament.

This is the third year of varsity basketball for this sharp athletic player who is getting better with each game. Look for more on Shumpert from in the near future.
