Josh Crittle is 6-7 forward from Hales Franciscan High School (IL) and is making a name for himself these days. Crittle has shown a lot of interest in the Illinois program, but at this time is still waiting for that offer. "Illinois saw me play three games last weekend. I saw them there looking; actually it was Coach Weber. Right now I still don't have an offer from them though," said Crittle.
This weekend Josh will be playing with his MeanStreets 17-U AAU team in Akron, Ohio in the King James Classic. "Coach Webster has been recruiting me and they know I'm really interested in them. I'm sure they will be there this weekend," Crittle said.
While talking with Crittle, he gave me a rather impressive list of suitors for his services. He mentioned: Tennessee, Dayton, DePaul, Virginia, Iowa State, Baylor, Clemson, Marquette and Indiana, as well as Illinois. Josh didn't say specifically what he's looking for in a college. Some of those schools have offered him (Marquette, Virginia, Dayton and Iowa State), but he seems to have some strong feelings for the Illini.
Crittle said he's good to go from an academic standpoint. "I think I've done a good job in the classroom and I think I'm already qualified for college. Now just waiting to pick a school, but I'm not going to rush into things right now," said Crittle.
This weekend could just be the weekend Crittle is looking for, but no matter what, he's going to play hard each time out and show all the coaches what he can do. Crittle will be one we keep close tabs on this weekend because of his interest level with Bruce Weber's program.
Even though Crittle is listed at 6-7, he's strong and plays well with his back to the basket. What he will bring to any program he attends will be his willingness to compete and not back down in the paint.
