Joseph Bertrand Update

Sterling Illinois guard Joseph Bertrand played with his high school team the Sterling Warriors yesterday, read here at InsideIllini.com for a brief update of his game.

Joseph Bertrand is a 6-4 shooting guard that has the eye of many colleges, yesterday at the Sterling Shootout we saw Bertrand on display. According to his coach Peter Goff Joseph played very well at the Illinois team camp two weeks ago in Champaign, "It was very good for him and our team," said Goff.

Yesterday in Sterling, Illinois he really focused more on running his team than being the shooting guard most feel that he is. His scoring was below average the first game he scored seven points but dished out nine assist, three steals, and eight rebounds.

The knock on Bertrand is that he's extremely gifted and talented and that most athletes dream of having his abilities, but he doesn't display it at all times and for a full game. One coach yesterday stated "Bertrand will be a junior next season, to showcase his skills he should step his game up to another level." If you didn't know that he was a legit DI recruit he would blend in with everyone else on the court at times.

Bertrand can defend bigger guards, quick wing players, shoots well from the perimeter, and he's strong enough to score in traffic. At this tournament he was clearly the best player there.

Sometimes it's not really fair to compare athletes, but as we stated here before he's a clone of former Illini guard Luther Head. During one of Bertrand's games a player went strong to the basket almost a for sure two points out of nowhere Bertrand swatted the ball to another court.

There are a lot of schools interested in this young star stay tuned as we let u know when the offers start rolling in.
