DeAndre McCamey to Visit Illinois

With the recent loss of Tracy Webster, Illinois Head Coach Bruce Weber is working around the clock. Read here for more on DeAndre.

DeAndre McCamey is a 6-1 point guard from St. Joseph and a member of the class of 2010. McCamey will be making an unofficial visit to Champaign, Illinois this weekend along with Sterling, Illinois native Joseph Bertrand, a 6-3 shooting guard. "I've been there before, but this weekend I'm making a visit with a couple other recruits. I'm not ready to make a decision for school right now; I have a long time to go before that happens," McCamey said.

Entering just his second year of high school, the younger McCamey is getting interest from a lot of the Big Ten schools, but there are two that have been working him the hardest. "Illinois and Indiana are the two Big Ten schools who've shown the most interest, but SIU has been pretty good too, so far," he added.

McCamey is a tough player and wants to play along with guys that can help win championships. "I talk to Jereme Richmond sometimes. We never talk much about going to the same school, but were pretty good friends." Since his older brother Demetri is already at Illinois, he should know first hand how things are being done. "He really likes it down there. He's very focused on his school work and playing basketball. He was kind of shocked when he found out Coach Webster was leaving for Kentucky. That's too bad. He was like a father figure to a lot of the kids in Chicago, but Illinois will be fine," McCamey stated.

When McCamey gets back home on Sunday; we'll call for an update on his visit on our premium board.
